A prickly pear, orange on dark green. Chouara is the Fez tannery, vats of color in a grid, and this checkered Berber round rug keeps that order: soft squares of warm color. Weavers once set the vats out row by row. Zarbish makes it now.
The grid runs straight to the rim and the circle cuts the outer squares, so the edge is a ring of half cells. The two bars are the firmest lines on the rug, and the soft squares shade lighter at their edges where the field shows through.

Cómo se hizo Chouara
Chouara: una tenería de Fez vista desde lo alto, con sus pilas de color alineadas en cuadrícula. Un higo chumbo naranja sobre verde oscuro, y la misma calidez en estos cuadros suaves, que esta alfombra redonda bereber reparte hasta el borde del círculo. Antiguo oficio de pilas y tintes.
