Where should a rug go in a nursery?

Beside the crib or under the chair, where you kneel and sit most, with floor left around it: a 5x8 ft or a 6 ft round suits most nurseries. Choose short or medium pile and a soft mood, a solid in one gentle tone or a carved texture.

What pile height is best for a baby learning to crawl?

Short or medium: both cushion small knees and stay level for first hands and steps, and medium is a little softer for tummy time. Shag looks inviting, but toys sink into it.

Are tassels a good idea on a nursery rug?

We would leave them off: a tassel is an easy fistful to chew, and a plain end keeps a rocking chair from catching.

Which neutral colors suit a nursery rug?

Ivory, camel and the softest sage, blush and dusty pink: low-contrast color that keeps the room restful at night. A solid blush or sage field is the quietest of all. Keep bright, high-contrast designs for a kids room later.

What makes a nursery rug non-toxic?

Natural wool, and plant and mineral dyes with no synthetic chemicals. Ivory, camel and beige are the fleece's own color and need no dye. If a washable rug tempts you, wool against polyester sets out what you give up and what you gain.

How do you clean spit-up or a diaper leak from a wool rug?

Lift what you can, then blot from the edge inward with cool water, never rub, and skip steam and harsh cleaners. If a dog or cat shares the floor, wool rugs and pets covers shedding and stains.
