About this rug

Pebbles packed, small ones where they rolled. Izra is rocks in Amazigh, the plural, and this sculpted Beni Mrirt runner carries that slope in wool: rounded cells of raised pile, ground between. Weavers once knotted the hillside from memory. Zarbish carves the stones today.

The boulder cells sit in a deep surround rather than on pale ground, so each one reads as a stone set in dark earth, and the surround is tied flat and dense. A band of blocks caps the top, and a checker of small blocks closes the foot.
