About this rug

Pebbles packed, small ones where they rolled. Izra is rocks in Amazigh, the plural, and this sculpted Beni Mrirt round rug carries that slope in wool: rounded cells of raised pile, ground between. Weavers once knotted the hillside from memory. Zarbish carves the stones today.

The circle is a layered landscape rather than a field of stones: soft masses of tone across the top, a wavy band, a bold dark stripe, and two rows of small blocks along the base. The surface is soft throughout.
