About this rug

A rounded hill wrapped in rust and peach rock bands. An aghbalou is a spring in Amazigh, and this sculpted Beni Mrirt round rug shows the ground above one: ridges of wool curving past the source. Weavers once tied the slope. Zarbish carves it today.

The bands run straight over the circle and bow around the island at the center, and the firm base shows between them as pale lines. The binding cuts the bands at both ends, and the deep segments at the top and bottom are flat.
