About this rug

Blue boulders from above, foam threading between. Ouzoud falls in steps into a pool of stones, and this diamond Beni Ourain round rug makes its bed: stone after stone, each its own shape. Weavers once laid stones like these by memory. Zarbish makes one now.

Each shape is a slightly different pebble, and the rows are offset, so the eye never finds a straight line to follow except the rim. The deep wool is tied dense, the pale bands full and soft.
