Tarz Checkered Moroccan Rug

Square tanks of deep blue water set in pale stone. Tarz is the embroidery of Fez, and this checkered Berber rug is that stitching: notched tiles set in a checker. Weavers once counted every stitch from memory. Zarbish makes it today.

Every tile has a notched edge, and the notches are each a single knot, so the whole grid reads as if it were stitched rather than knotted. The small dots at the centers of the pale tiles are one deep knot each.
