6x9 Rugs

A 6x9 ft rug suits the compact room: a small living room with front legs on it, or a full or queen bed. The size guide tests it against your furniture.

Yes, it is the natural size for one: laid across a full bed, it reaches about 27 in past each side. A king outgrows it, and an 8x10 suits it better.

The sofa decides. Under about 80 in, a 6x9 holds the group with front legs on; from 84 in, with chairs opposite, the 8x10 keeps every front leg on the wool. A living room rule of thumb is in is my rug too small.

Both work: in a compact room the sofa and a chair rest their front feet on it, and in a floating layout it holds the coffee table with the seats just off its edge. What fails is a sofa half on and chairs fully off.
