Ronda Checkered Berber Rug

From above, a plateau dealt out in plots: brown, sand, gold. Ronda is the card game, and this checkered Berber rug deals its blocks the same way, a new hand in every row. Weavers once played it from memory. Zarbish deals it today.

The blocks have edges that waver a little, so each row reads as a strip of cloth rather than a line of tiles. Small flecks of a second tone sit inside some blocks, single knots scattered where they fell, and the rows are tied one above the other with no gap.
