About this rug
A fallow field framed by bands of mustard and coral flowers. The Bahia is the Marrakech palace; this checkered Berber rug holds that plan: a worked frame, plain inside. Weavers once held the board in memory. Zarbish makes it now.
The center is the plainest wool on the rug, and it shows the lean of the pile as a soft line down its middle. The frame around it is set with small squares that alternate two tones and sit a little apart, so each one reads as a separate tile.
