About this rug
A fallow field framed by bands of mustard and coral flowers. The Bahia is the Marrakech palace; this checkered Berber runner holds that plan: a worked frame, plain inside. Weavers once held the board in memory. Zarbish makes it now.
A thin maze line is traced through the frame in a single deep thread, turning corners the whole way round. Inside, the rounded blotches are set in three loose columns, each blotch a slightly different size, with the light ground showing between them.
