What is the best rug to use under my desk?

Size the rug so the chair stays on it when you push back, with the desk's front legs on the wool: a 5x8 ft for a single desk, in short pile for a rolling chair and a calm design for long hours.

Which pile height works with a rolling office chair?

Short, 0.4 in (1 cm): casters roll across a dense, low weave instead of digging in. Shag is the worst case; the chair sticks and the spot flattens.

Do tassels make sense on an office rug?

Generally not: casters catch and wind them. Leave them off in the work zone; on a rug under a reading chair in the same room, they soften the edge.

Which designs keep an office focused?

Mostly solid or finely lined designs: a solid in charcoal or brown, or ivory with a few fine dark lines.

What rug works with a dark wood desk?

Contrast carries it. A walnut or mahogany desk reads best on a light ground, like ivory with fine lines, and a pale oak or white desk wants depth beneath it, like a deep solid.
