About this rug

Square stones close, one against the next. Bejmat is the floor tile of Fez, and this sculpted Beni Mrirt round rug makes that floor soft: raised squares, the grout cut low. Weavers once laid the ground from memory. Zarbish lays the tiles today.

The channels are wider here, so each tile sits in its own frame of pale flat weave, and the circle trims the outer tiles. The raised tiles are warm and soft, and their edges are cut clean.
