9x12 Rugs

A 9x12 ft rug holds the bigger seating group: a sofa of 96 to 110 in or a sectional, chairs opposite, every front leg on the wool. The size guide weighs it against an 8x10 by the length of your sofa.

Yes, in a room under about 11x14 ft, where it runs close to the walls and reads as carpet. The checks in is my rug too small work in both directions.

Yes, in most living rooms: a sofa up to about 110 in long on the 12 ft side, with chairs opposite, sits all legs on with 6 to 12 in of wool to spare. A larger sectional, or two sofas facing with chairs at the ends, reaches the edge, and a 10x14 keeps every leg on. In a room under about 11x14 ft, front legs on is the better fit.

Quiet when the sofa or walls already carry pattern, bold when they do not: at this size the rug is the largest surface after the walls. A quiet solid lets the room lead, and on plain furniture a pattern earns its place.
