About this rug

A band of painted tiles along a white wall. An arsa is an orchard garden, and the checkered Berber round rug lays the beds out like those tiles: squares in rows. Weavers once laid out such beds by habit. Zarbish knots it today.

Where the circle meets the grid it trims the outer squares into part beds, so the rim is a ring of cut shapes. The frames are the softest wool on the rug, and the dots in the channels are single knots.
