Hammam Round Checkered Moroccan Rug

A deep blue panelled door, in a whitewashed wall. The hammam is the bathhouse, tiled floor to ceiling; this checkered Berber round rug lays that wall flat: tiles in rows, edges softened by steam. Weavers once tiled a room in wool. Zarbish makes it now.

The straight grid runs to the bound edge and the circle cuts the top and bottom rows into part squares, so the rug reads as a window onto a larger wall. The halos are warmest where two squares sit closest together.
