About this rug

Apricots on a white table, each a little different. A fondouk is the old caravanserai, and this checkered Berber round rug is its plan: thick walls stepped around the edge, small blocks inside. Weavers once built it room by room. Zarbish knots one now.

The ground is a very deep tone, tied dense and matte, and the one stepped shape on it is outlined in a warm line a few knots wide. Inside the outline the pale wool holds three upright spindles, and small pale blocks sit on the dark ground around it.
