How do I choose the right size and shape?

Biban comes in three shapes, Classic, Round and Runner, in a standard size or a custom size priced as you type. The size guide has plans room by room.

Ragged by design. Vertical blocks stand in rows, each edged along its top and side, close enough together to read as a line of thresholds, and the ragged edges are where the wool shows its hand.

Each tile is knotted by hand in 100% natural wool, color by color, densely enough that small blocks stay distinct instead of running together.

Biban earns its place as a runner in a hallway, since its pattern forgives the daily foot traffic. Short or medium pile wears best there, and lies flat under shoes. Try it in a kitchen as well.

No, short 0.4 in (1 cm) pile shows the ragged edges most clearly, along with the thin edging on each block. Medium 0.8 in (2 cm) keeps the blocks bold and softens the raggedness slightly. Shag 1.2 in (3 cm) blurs the edging into the blocks, so the rug reads as strong shapes on a quiet ground.

How do I keep Biban looking fresh?

Small tiles hide crumbs and grit well, so weekly vacuuming with suction only does most of the work, and it also lifts the loose fiber new wool lets go of in its first weeks. Blot spills with cool water from the edge inward, never rub, and skip steam and carpet foam. The care guide has the full routine.
