How do I choose the right size and shape?

Size it to the furniture, not the floor: at least 18 in shows beyond the sides and foot of a bed, and under a dining table it runs 24 in (60 cm) past the edge. Doukkala comes in three shapes, Classic, Round and Runner, in a standard size or a custom size priced as you type. The size guide has plans room by room.

Is Doukkala a strict checkerboard?

Close, but soft. On the rectangle, large soft-edged squares alternate across the ground with small dots in vertical lines between the columns. Each square is big enough to read on its own from across the room, and its edges blur a little where the pile leans.

Is Doukkala hand-knotted, tile by tile?

Each tile is knotted by hand in 100% natural wool, color by color, densely enough that small blocks stay distinct instead of running together.

Where should I put Doukkala?

Doukkala earns its place as a runner in a hallway, since the pattern keeps scuffs and footprints from showing. Short or medium pile wears best there, and lies flat under shoes. Try it in a kitchen as well.

Do large soft squares look different in shag than in short pile?

Accepted Answer

Large squares read well in every pile. Short 0.4 in (1 cm) keeps the dots and the square edges clearest. Medium 0.8 in (2 cm) softens the edges further, like the boundaries of fields. Shag 1.2 in (3 cm) gives each square visible depth and lets the small dots fade into the ground.

How do I keep Doukkala looking fresh?

Small tiles hide crumbs and grit well, so weekly vacuuming with suction only does most of the work, and it also lifts the loose fiber new wool lets go of in its first weeks. Blot spills with cool water from the edge inward, never rub, and skip steam and carpet foam. The care guide has the full routine.

Can I see Doukkala in another color before I order?

Accepted Answer

Yes, at once. Pick a shade from our 30 wool colors and the preview appears on the rug's page; approve it and that is the rug the weavers make. It costs 10% more than the size's price and adds one extra week.
