How do I choose the right size and shape?

Size it to the furniture, not the floor: at least 18 in shows beyond the sides and foot of a bed, and under a dining table it runs 24 in (60 cm) past the edge. Shamsa comes in three shapes, Classic, Round and Runner, in a standard size or a custom size priced as you type. The size guide has plans room by room.

Are the rosettes on Shamsa round?

Accepted Answer

No, they are stepped, as a tile would cut them. Sun-rosettes sit in an ordered layout, with a lattice of small stepped lozenges filling the ground between them and fine dots running through the lattice. The rosettes are the focal point, and the lattice holds them together.

Is Shamsa hand-knotted, tile by tile?

Each tile is knotted by hand in 100% natural wool, color by color, densely enough that small blocks stay distinct instead of running together.

Shamsa earns its place as a runner in a hallway, since its pattern hides the wear of daily passing. A short or medium pile holds up to daily walking there. Try it in an entryway and a kitchen as well.

Which pile keeps the stepped rosettes most defined on Shamsa?

Accepted Answer

Short 0.4 in (1 cm) pile holds every step of the rosettes and the small dots in the lattice. Medium 0.8 in (2 cm) softens the steps so the rosettes read a little rounder. In shag 1.2 in (3 cm) the lattice dots blur and the rosettes become soft blooms on the ground.

How do I keep Shamsa looking fresh?

Small tiles hide crumbs and grit well, so weekly vacuuming with suction only does most of the work, and it also lifts the loose fiber new wool lets go of in its first weeks. Blot spills with cool water from the edge inward, never rub, and skip steam and carpet foam. The care guide has the full routine.

Accepted Answer

Yes: any of our 30 wool shades, previewed at once on the rug's page. The version you approve is the version the weavers knot, for 10% more than the size's price and one extra week.
