About this rug

Strata tilted into parallel ribs. The Dades gorge is where rock folds, and this sculpted Beni Mrirt round rug takes the fold into wool: bands that swell and sink across the field. Weavers once knotted the ground; the waves came after. Zarbish carves them today.

Two pale ribbons cross a warm ground, raised above it and grooved on both sides, and the band between them narrows at the middle like an hourglass. Of the two wools, the pale one is softer.
