About this rug

Squares of brown stone in a grid. The Tadla is the irrigated plain below the Atlas, and the sculpted Beni Mrirt runner brings it indoors: raised plots, water paths cut flat between. Weavers once knotted fields this level. Zarbish carves the plots today.

Three squares across, seven down, in four tones that refuse to alternate, so the runner reads as a stack of plots each planted differently. The flat channels between them are narrow enough to step over.
