About this rug

Squares of brown stone in a grid. The Tadla is the irrigated plain below the Atlas, and the sculpted Beni Mrirt round rug brings it indoors: raised plots, water paths cut flat between. Weavers once knotted fields this level. Zarbish carves the plots today.

The circle trims the grid at its edge, and the squares inside are a loose mix of pale and dark that never settles into a pattern. The channels are a pale, flat weave, cooler to the touch than the raised wool.
