Tirra Checkered Berber Runner

A coral fritillary, a checkerboard on every petal. Tirra is writing in Amazigh, and this checkered Berber runner reads like a page: squares where the hand hurried, bars where it slowed. Weavers once kept the page by heart. Zarbish makes it now.

A pale gap separates every square from the next, so the checker reads as blocks set on a ground rather than cut from it. The bars at the two ends are the same deep wool as the squares, tied taller than they are wide.
