About this rug

A slot in the rock, sand underfoot. The Todra gorge is cut like this, and this striped Beni Ourain round rug stacks the walls in bars, the floor a wide column between. Weavers once stacked these bars from memory. Zarbish makes it today.

Deep bands and pale bands alternate straight across the circle, and the pale rim around them is wide enough to read as a frame. The deep wool is dense and even, the pale wool fuller, so the bands differ to the hand as well as the eye.
