About this rug

A frozen lake cracked into indigo plates. A hamada is the desert's stone plateau, and this sculpted Beni Mrirt runner lifts the same: raised blocks of pile over a clipped ground. Weavers once knotted the level ground. Zarbish raises the blocks today.

Three tracks of raised squares climb the runner in one deep tone, over a clipped ground of the same wool, so the pattern is all height. The channels between squares are firm, and the squares are soft.
