About this rug

Ochre mud bricks stacked into a wall at sunset. A hamada is the desert's stone plateau, and this sculpted Beni Mrirt runner lifts the same: raised blocks of pile over a clipped ground. Weavers once knotted the level ground. Zarbish raises the blocks today.

In a warm wool over a paler clipped ground, the raised squares run the length in three tracks, and the channels between them show as light lines. The squares are soft on top and cut clean at the sides.
