Rug runners

About a hand's width narrower than the hall on each side, so floor shows along both walls: 2 to 2.6 ft suits most hallways. Stop it short of both ends and any door swing. Hallway runner sizes are laid out by width, length and room.

One that runs with the length or repeats evenly: lengthwise stripes lead the eye down a hall, and a check breaks up footprints by a back door. A single large central motif suits a runner less.

Well, if it is dense and short: hand-knotted wool springs back under daily steps, and short or medium pile clears doors. Turn it end to end every few months so the path wears evenly.

Yes: we make the runner to your stair width and the full length of the run, fitted with stair rods or by a fitter. The stair runners page shows how to measure.
